Jodie
Oberste:
Her
passion from sewing came from her grandmother. At
age seven, she began sewing clothes for
her Barbie dolls, and took off from there. With
shopping as one of her many hobbies, she
quickly learned that she could not afford
all the expensive designs in style, and
began to create her own stylish clothes. With
a love of a challenge, her skills quickly
expanded to new sewing techniques, as well
as knitting, crocheting, etc.
Jodie’s educational background includes
marketing, fashion and design, and a paralegal
certificate. She has
received awards and recognition for fashion
merchandising and marketing, and for fashion
show design and organization. Recently,
Jodie has completed her bachelor’s
degree in psychology and criminal justice. With
the completion of the degree, her goal
is to reach out to trouble teens through
sewing and other related techniques. Jodie
Oberste brings in several years of years
of marketing experience from prestigious
firms within the Chicago land area.
Jodie is familiar with
several sewing machines brands with an
emphasis on Husqvarna Viking. She
has taught classes for Girl Scouts, kid’s
camps, adult beginning and intermediate
sewing, one on one, and helps students
finish ongoing projects. Jodie brings
to sewing the love to create unique products,
including handbags and accessories. She
loves everything about being a woman, especially
fashion.
Sandy Hoover:
After 27 years with Ameritech,
Sandy took advantage of an early retirement
package and seized the opportunity to pursue
her lifelong passion for sewing. For the
past 10 years she has worked for a Husqvarna
Viking sewing machine dealer in Naperville,
Batavia and Geneva. She has attended several
Husqvarna Viking certification classes
in business training, entry-level through
top-of-the-line sewing machines, as well
as software and service repair.
While she credits her mother for her early
skills and great love of sewing, she has
also attended the Fashion Design program
at the College of DuPage in an effort to
expand her knowledge. Having had an opportunity
to take classes at the Husqvarna Dealer
conventions for the past 8 years has also
allowed her to learn many techniques from
some of the best educators in the trade.
Some of the many classes Sandy teaches
include tailoring, pants fitting, couture
fashion techniques, and wearable art. She
also teaches home decorating, quilting
and crafting projects, as well as, basic
sewing and conducted a Teen Club for young
enthusiasts while in Batavia. In support
of the dealership, she teaches new machine
owners how to use their Husqvarna Viking
machines and conducts the monthly sewing
club.
